GAL Presentation at NOVALUG

November 4th, 2007

Silicon Safari Inc’s CEO, Vince Hickey, gave a Guardian Angel Linux product briefing to the members of NOVALUG on Saturday, November 3rd. Also, discussed was S.S.I.’s GAL-Kit and its ability to increase the compatibility of GAL while on the go.

There was excellent audience participation and questions that occurred at the meeting which the CEO genuinely enjoyed. Next month’s presentation (or perhaps even a few more presentations) will be a more “detailed” discussion(s) covering:

  1. what philosophical approach was taken

  2. what morality and ethical issues were tackled.

  3. legal concerns and solutions (encryption and codecs)

  4. feature specifications used

  5. technological components are within GAL:

    1. Features and Applications

    2. Linux-Live components (aufs, squashfs, etc.)

    3. Encryption (as well as non-repudiation, plausible deniability and perfect forward secrecy).

    4. Use of email message encryption, tunnels, containers, digital signatures, etc.

    5. Authentication technology (Token, CaC, biometrics)

    6. Anonymous Networks

    7. Shielding Technologies (Anti-Virus, Anti-Scam, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, AppArmor, Anti-Tracking, TOMOYO, etc)

    8. Data Integrity/Removal

    9. persistence of session

    10. Notification and Updates

    11. Underlying libraries and frameworks

In a few weeks time, a GAL ISO will be released and mirrored on NOVALUG’s web site.
